Zamfara state government has concluded the arrangement to distribute 200 Hilux jeeps and 190 motorcycles to security operatives in the state as part of efforts to support them fight banditry.
The Governor of the state, Bello Matawale stated this while inspecting caches of arms and ammunition willingly surrendered by repentants bandits to the Nigerian army, in Gusau the state capital.
The surrendered weapons includes one general purpose machine gun, 3 fabrique nationale rifles and one AK forty seven riffle while troops captured a total of 14 Ak47 riffles and ten thousand rounds of ammunition.
Governor Matawalle commended the resilience of the Nigerian Army and promise to support them in the fight against banditry which has now a policy of carrot and sticks approach.
Responding the force commander of Operation Hadarin Daji in the state, Brig Gen Aminu Bande assured the governor that the operation would not relent on its oars until armed banditry was totally crushed and peace was fully restored in the state.
