The House of Representatives has launched an investigation into the implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Policy across Nigeria, with a view to assessing its safety, sustainability, and effectiveness.
Ahmadu Jaha, the chairman of the committee, while speaking in Abuja at the inauguration of the Ad Hoc Committee on the CNG Policy, said the initiative was critical to ensuring that Nigeria’s shift towards cleaner energy aligned with global best practices.
He stressed the need for equitable distribution of CNG centers nationwide, saying every Nigerian must feel included in the transition.
Jaha stated that the committee will engage key stakeholders, including government agencies, international oil companies (IOCs), and relevant organizations, to gather insights and evaluate the current state of implementation.
The committee will also scrutinize the regulatory and legal frameworks guiding the CNG policy and recommend necessary legislative actions.
Expressing appreciation to the leadership of the House, Jaha noted that the committee is composed of seasoned, diligent lawmakers who are committed to delivering on the mandate.
