The Plateau State Government has inaugurated a 25-member planning committee for the 2025 Plateau Festival of Arts and Culture, PLAFEST.
This signaled Government’s commitment to promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage and boosting the local economy through tourism as well as the creative industry.
At the inauguration ceremony held at Government House in Jos, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, emphasized the administration’s commitment to harnessing Plateau’s cultural and artistic potential for economic development.

He explained that the government’s vision is to diversify the economy and tap into the vast resources in the tourism industry.
Governor Mutfwang tasked the newly constituted committee to organize a world-class festival that will reposition Plateau State on the global cultural map, showcasing its rich artistic and cultural diversity.
Committee Chairman and Commissioner for Culture and Hospitality, Cornelius Doeyok, expressed gratitude and affirmed the committee’s readiness to deliver a successful festival that will boost the state’s cultural and creative sectors.
The Plateau Festival of Arts and Culture is expected to draw participants, tourists, and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond, promoting unity, creativity, and economic development within the state.
