Over 1000 people, mostly youths across the seventeen Local Government Areas of Plateau state are to be equipped with requisite skills towards combating unemployment in the country by the National Directorate of Employment, NDE .
The Directorate commenced the training of successful candidates for the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative in Jos.
The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative began December last year and aims to provide unemployed Nigerians with skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities

Over thirty two thousand people across thirty six states of the federation have already been trained in various skills in the first phase of the programme early this year, with two thousand and seventy beneficiaries from Plateau state.
In this second phase, out of 12 thousand people who applied in the state, more than one thousand have been selected for the training and are expected to be equipped with 23 different skills, including landscaping, tailoring, catering and agriculture.

During the flag off, the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE Silas Agara explained that the goal is to support small scale enterprises and promote agricultural productivity among others.
The Director General represented by the Plateau State NDE Coordinator Michael Adeyeye, stressed that the Directorate remains committed despite limited resources to equip unemployed Nigerians with skills and make them self reliant.
The Director General who said the beneficiaries were selected without bias, explained that over forty one thousand people in the second phase of the program would be trained in 30 different skills nationwide, ranging from vocational, entrepreneurial, agriculture and information and ICT.
In a goodwill message, Former Chairman of Qua’anpan Local Government Area, Isaac Kwallu represented by Gideon Kwallu lauded the Federal Government’s effort through the National Directorate of Employment to empower Nigerians through various training schemes.
The master trainer, Wilfred Dangfa while urging the beneficiaries to take the training serious, noted that the programme has further given youths the chance to be more productive and contribute to economic growth of the country.
One of the beneficiaries, Rose James appreciated the federal government for the opportunity and promised to do her best for the the training scheme to achieve it’s aim.
