Kwara State Police Command has arrested forty-four suspected criminals and recovered arms and ammunition.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, stated this while briefing newsmen on the achievements of the command in Ilorin.
Mr Ojo said the suspected criminals were arrested from different locations in the state.
According to him, the suspects were held on various offences which range from conspiracy to commit offence, buying and selling , trafficking human parts, criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide as well as armed robbery.
He said incriminating items recovered from the suspects included arms, ammunition, cartridges, cars, cows, battle axe, and hard drugs, as well as the sum of two point seven million naira cash, among others.
According to him, the command also rescued two kidnap victims during the period.
He said it was earlier reported that on the 15th of August, 2025, the residence of one Yusuf Adamu of Shiya via Okuta was attacked by a group of heavily armed kidnappers.
The Commissioner said during the attack, his wife, Yusuf Suliat, was abducted at gunpoint and taken away to an unknown location.
Ojo said immediately after the incident, the Police Command, in synergy with local vigilante groups, launched a coordinated manhunt for the perpetrators and the suspects were arrested.
The Kwara State commissioner of Police added that the success recorded demonstrates the tireless commitment of the State Police Command to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of all residents.
