Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has laid the foundation for a Two thousand unit housing estate for civil servants.
The project which would be spread across the state and in phases, is in conjunction with the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the project located in Miango, Bassa Local Government Area , Governor Mutfwang emphasized that housing was a right and not a privilege, hence Government’s intervention.
The Governor stressed that the laying of the foundation is that of hope and dignity towards the civil service, expressing regrets at how civil servants are left unattended to.
He promised to replicate the project in other parts of the state.

The Governor who highlighted Government’s achievements since assumption of office also commended workers for their dedication and resilience despite challenges, urging them to keep to all civil service rules and regulations and to work assiduously towards taking the civil service to greater heights.


The Head of Service, Stephen Gaddong expressed gratitude over the development which he noted will help restore pride into the service as it deliberately aims at alleviating workers plight.
He appreciated the present administration for paying the 322 million naira used in acquiring the land and gave a breakdown of qualifications for owning a house in the estate
State NLC Chairman, Eugene Manji, who expressed displeasure that it took plateau state this long to join the league of states with houses for workers, applauded the Governor for paying for the land.

Manji revealed that this is the 28th attempt to actualize the plans of having a workers estate and appealed for the provision of essentials facilities including perimeter fencing and road networks to help lessen expenses on workers who will occupy the houses.
In a vote of thanks, the State Trade Union Congress Chairman, Kenneth Shammah pledged more partnership and solidarity, describing the project as timely.


He emphasized the need for the houses to meet the required standards.Highpoints of the event was the foundation laying for the housing project.
