The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi four,has called on sons and daughters of the emirate to contribute to its growth and extend support to the less privileged in the society.
The royal father made the call during the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Tanimu Sadiq Abubakar, who was conferred with the title of Barde of Lokoja.
Explaining the choice of Alhaji Tanimu for the position, the Maigari said the honour was in recognition of his selfless service and invaluable contributions to the development of the emirate and the wider society.
In his acceptance speech, the new Barde of Lokoja, Alhaji Tanimu Abubakar, expressed deep gratitude to the Maigari and the people of Lokoja for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to serve diligently, not only in the interest of Lokoja but also for the good of Nigeria.
He further appealed for the prayers and cooperation of stakeholders to enable him to effectively discharge his duties as a titleholder.
The historic ceremony attracted dignitaries from across the state and beyond, including the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Yusuf Aliyu; the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi; former Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu; serving commissioners, and several traditional titleholders.
