Twelve outstanding pupils from public schools in Kwara State have secured full scholarships for their secondary education under the State Education Trust Fund, ETF.
Speaking at an orientation for the beneficiaries, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq appealed to wealthy individuals and foundations to support government efforts by funding infrastructure and sponsoring outstanding pupils.
Governor AbdulRazaq explained that developing the education sector is costly and requires collective support.
According to him, the twelve winners were selected after a rigorous screening conducted by the Kwara ETF, and he assured that the scholarship would cover their entire secondary school education.
The Governor commended the transparent selection process and congratulated the pupils.
Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Mrs. Oluwadamilola Amolegbe, noted that the beneficiaries were chosen on merit from an initial shortlist of six hundred and forty pupils who benefited from the KwaraLEARN digital literacy programme.
Programme Manager, Mrs. Zainab AbdulSalam, stressed that the initiative reflects the ETF’s vision of building Kwara’s future through quality education.
Correspondent Abdullahi Ahmed reports that some parents of the beneficiaries commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the gesture, which, according to them, has lifted the burden of school expenses off their shoulders.
