Ninety eight Parents and Teachers from nine Local Government Areas in Benue State have been trained on strategies to end human Human Trafficking activities in the state.
The training held in Gboko was facilitated by International Center for Migration Policy Development, ICMPD in collaboration with NAPTIP, Okaha Women, Children Development Organization and the Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management.

Addressing participants, the Project Manager, ICMPD, Mrs Rhoda Diajohnson, stated that the training was to equip the parents and teachers on tips to detect, sensitize and report human trafficking activities as well as educate school Children on dangers associated with the act.
Represented by the ICMPD Project Officer, Mr Selbol Langyi, Mrs Diajohnson said the organization was implementing the School Anti trafficking Education and Advocacy Project STEAP sponsored by Government of Netherlands in five states in Nigeria with Benue selected due to high rate of cases of human trafficking activities.
The Zonal Commander, NAPTIP, Mrs Gloria Bai commended the Director General NAPTIP, Hajia Binta Bello, ICMPD, Okaha Women and Children Development Organization, Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management and the Media for the synergy to ensure the STEAP project succeed.
Commissioner, Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management, Dr. Margaret Adamu represented by the Desk officer, Agela Aule affirmed the commitment of the ministry towards full implementation of the STEAP project in Benue State.
The Executive Director, Okaha Women and Children Development Organization, Mrs Joy Ijuwo expressed gratitude to ICMPD, NAPTIP and other partners for working in synergy with her organization in implementing the project in the state.
A participant, Dr Pauline Igyo said she was now equipped to propagate the message in schools while Mr. Akpen Vaakor promised to step down the training during PTA meetings and thanked the organizers for the knowledge gained.
