Three Climate Justice Parks under the African Activists for Climate Justice, AACJ Project implemented by Environment and Climate Change Amelioration Initiative, ECCAI in partnership with Education as a Vaccine, EVA, have been built free of charge for sustainability and inaugurated in three secondary schools in Makurdi.
The schools are Government Girls College, Government Model School and Unique Secondary School.
Executive Director, ECCAI, Mrs. Victoria Esa said the parks were built in a safe learning-friendly space for the students to connect with nature in school, learn about climate change and develop innovative ideas that would protect the planet.

The ECCAI Executive Director stated that through the AACJ project, they have worked with the female students to establish Climate Justice Clubs, nurture leadership among them to strengthen their voices in environmental advocacy, planted trees and also promoted climate- friendly habits within their communities.
Mrs Esa noted that the parks were lasting legacies to the Climate Justice Clubs to serve as a reminder that every action taken can shape the kind world they and the future generations would meet.
Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management Dr. Margaret Adamu represented by the Principal Education Officer, Michael Agada and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Mr Odo Ogwu represented by Unit Head, Climate Change Mitigation, Mrs Anita Aondona charged the students to keep the recreational areas clean always to combat threats that endanger climate change.
Proprietress of Unique Secondary School, Mrs Juliana Atume, Principal of Government Girls College Dr. Dooshima Anongo and that of Government Model, Dr Robert Apir represented by the Vice Principal Administration Mr. Daniel Dosu commended ECCAI for creating awareness among students to imbibe cleaner habits, which in turn leads to healthier and longer lives for all.
President of Social Justice Clubs in Unique secondary school, Iveren Aondoaseer and that of Government Model Esther Akor as well as Government Girls College, Goodness Ojoma thanked ECCAI for setting up a park which would enable them live an eco-friendly lifestyle that aid preserve the natural resources.#
