A job fair aimed at enhancing the employability of youths in Plateau State has kick-started with a one-day training and job fair held in Jos plateau state.
The event is a tripartite collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, the GIZ Skills Development for Youth Employment SKYE and the Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency PLASMIDA.
The job fair, the first of its kind in Plateau State, seeks to create a platform that brings together employers and job seekers under one roof providing equal opportunities for interaction, networking, and recruitment.

Participants also received training on essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving to boost their chances of securing and sustaining employment.
The Director General of PLASMIDA,Bomkam Wuyep, represented by the gender focal person of the agency Jennifer churue said the initiative would help bridge the gap between job seekers and employers while empowering young people in Plateau State with the right skills for the labour market.
A controller with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Obasekwi Henry encouraged youths to take advantage of job centres provided by the ministry and PLASMIDA to guide them through the process of job matching so as to become employable.
The GIZ Head of Component, Capacity Development and Knowledge Management, and State Coordinator, Plateau State SKYE, Patricia Kormawa, said the platform would provides employers with direct access to qualified candidates, simplified recruitment channels, and opportunities to forge sustainable partnerships that enhance workforce development.
She reinforced the Plateau Job Centre role a plasmida initiative as key actors in job matching, career advisory, and labour market data systems.
Some participants commended the initiative and expressed hope that the skills gained from the training would help them secure meaningful employment.
The job fair had in attendance various employers of labour drawn from sectors including technology, education, and hospitality.
