The Court of Appeal in Makurdi, Benue State is to hear a motion of notice filed by Oluwatimileyin Daniel Ajayi, also known as Timileyin Ajayi, seeking an extension of time to apply for leave to appeal a judgment of the High Court of Justice in Nasarawa State.
Oluwatimileyin Ajayi was sentenced to death by a state high court presided by Justice Simon Aboki for the brutal killing Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps member.
The convict is also seeking an order granting him leave to appeal the judgment, having exceeded the 90-day statutory period allowed for filing an appeal.
Oluwatimileyin Ajayi was sentenced to death by hanging on twenty-six day of June, 2025 by Justice Simon Aboki.
The motion is to be heard on a date to be fixed by the court, during which counsel for Oluwatimileyin Ajayi and the State are expected to present their argument.
