Twenty three graduates of veterinary medicine from the University of Jos have been inducted into the Veterinary profession.
The oath taking and induction ceremony took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s Hall of the University.
The oath-taking ceremony was witnessed by dignitaries, including special adviser to the plateau state governor on labour matters Titus Alams, former Governor Jonah Jang, representative of the vice chancellor and the entire Faculty management.
In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Pwaveno Bamaiyi emphasized that the work of veterinarians extends beyond treating animals as their services impact human health.

The dean reminded the new Veterinary doctors of the need to maintain professionalism as they embark on the journey of making profound impact in communities, hospitals and as they carry out research that will save several lives.
In his congratulatory remarks, the Deputy vice chancellor Academic Professor Rahila Gomwalk who represented the vice chancellor lauded the students for their resilience and urged them to contribute their skills and knowledge to the nation’s Animals healthcare sector and appealed to them to resist the temptation of seeking opportunities abroad but instead dedicate themselves to improving veterinary Medicine within Nigeria.
The guest speaker and former Governor Jonah Jang who expressed optimism about the future of the veterinary sector , highlighted the numerous opportunities available to the newly inducted Veterinary doctors.
Representative of Plateau state Governor, Titus Alams pledged government’s readiness in supporting the Veterinary Doctors, adding that previous sets were absorbed by the current present government into the work force.
The Registrar of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria VCN, Prof. Mathew Adamu, represented by the acting Registrar, Dr. Oladotun, administered the oath where
He urged the inductees to uphold the highest ethical standards and leadership qualities, as prescribed by the VCN.

Some visibly elated new inductees said they were thrilled to join the veterinary profession, expressing gratitude to their families, lecturers and mentors for their support throughout their academic journey.
