The Benue State Government has been implored to domesticate the whistleblowing policy to check malpractices, corruption and enhance maximum utilization of public funds.
Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun gave the advice in Makurdi at a one day nation-wide sensitization programme on the implementation of the policy in Nigeria.



Represented by the Permanent Secretary on Special Duties in the ministry, Raymond Omachi, the Minister of Finance, who noted that since the introduction of the policy, over one hundred billion naira has so far been recovered, however observed that there are gaps and challenges that needed to be addressed.
Governor Hyacinth Alia represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Michael Oglegba stated that the policy direction of the Federal Government on zero tolerance for corruption and transparency was in line with his administration and assured of domesticating the whistle blowing policy.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun represented by the State Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Enemari in his paper presentation, titled “protection of Whistle blower: The role of security agencies” assured people with useful information on corruption not to be afraid of reporting same to the appropriate authorities.
Participants including James Foga of Radio Nigeria Harvest FM and Justina Ikwuve of the State Head of Service described the sensitization programme as timely and called for its strict implementation.
