Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to education, describing it as a critical driver of growth and a pathway to a better future for the people of the state.
The Governor made this known in a message to the 2025 Igala Education Summit held in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Igala Education Foundation.
The Governor who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu said education remains a top priority of his administration, citing key policies such as free and compulsory education from nursery to secondary school levels, payment of WAEC, NECO and JAMB examination fees, improved school infrastructure, and enhanced support for teachers.
He stressed that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of educational development, urging parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to continue supporting the Igala Education Foundation in order to reach more students across the district.
The Governor commended the leadership and supporters of the Foundation for their consistent efforts in promoting education and transforming the lives of many children and families across Igala and Bassa communities over the years.
Governor Ododo also paid tribute to the founder of the Foundation, late Professor Francis Suleiman Idachaba, describing him as an outstanding educationist whose vision has enabled countless young people to access quality education and build better lives.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the 2025 Igala Education Summit, Mrs Achenyo Idachaba Obaro, said the Foundation, established by late Professor Idachaba, has in the past 25 years positively impacted lives, shaped destinies and redirected futures through education.
She called for increased participation and stronger partnerships among well-meaning Igala and Bassa sons and daughters to further advance education within the district.
