The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued four children who were abducted in Karu Local Government Area of the state, following a discreet, intelligence-led operation.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, says the rescue followed a report on the mysterious disappearance of the children at the New Nyanya Division in Karu Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Mohammed Jauro, immediately ordered an investigation upon receiving the report.
SP Ramhan Nansel explained that acting on credible intelligence, detectives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, traced the suspects’ hideout, where the children were safely rescued unharmed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly abducted by one Abraham Asoje, aged twenty-eight, who reportedly conspired with one Joy Bolaje, aged twenty-nine, both of Ado Junction in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The suspects allegedly kept the children in confinement before the timely intervention of the police.
The rescued children have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects linked to the crime.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Mohammed Jauro, has commended the professionalism, dedication, and swift response of the operatives involved in the rescue operation.
He reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, particularly the safety of children and other vulnerable members of society. The Commissioner also called on parents and guardians to be more vigilant and ensure proper care of their wards.
