A one day training on effective communication,conflict resolution, and peace building techniques put together by the African Initiative for peace building,Advocacy and Advancement,Afripeace has ended in makurdi.
Programme Officer,Afripeace,Mrs Rahap Kwaja charged participants to be peace ambassadors by using alternative dispute resolution mechanisms learnt at the training to resolve conflicts in their communities before it degenerates.
Mrs Kwaja stated that the intervention which is currently in Benue and plateau,was aimed at rebuilding trust, reducing violence, strengthening early warning and response systems within vulnerable communities.
Coordinator of the programme in Otukpo and Gwer West, Adakole Oko who noted that without peace there can be no development, enjoined stakeholders to take advantage of every opportunity they have to engage in peace and dialogue.
Some participants, Reverend Father Peter Adikpe, Mrs Anne Ochediku and chief Ogbu Onda said they have learnt more ways of alternative dispute resolutions without necessarily going to court.
