The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has embarked on voter education campaign across the three senatorial districts of the state with advocacy visits to traditional institutions and interactions with political stakeholders ahead of the October seventeen Local Government Elections.
The sensitisation tour, was led by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mamman Nda Eri, alongside other Commissioners and members of the management team.
The KOSIEC chairman said the tour was aimed at educating voters on proper voting procedures, strengthening collaboration with stakeholders and securing royal support for the conduct of peaceful, free and credible elections.

Addressing stakeholders during the engagements, Mr .Eri urged political office holders and parties to strictly adhere to the provisions of the newly enacted Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission Law, 2025.
He noted that the gazetted law was available online for public access and emphasized the need for full compliance by all actors.
Mr. Eri stated that all stakeholders must align their activities with the Commission’s timeline and ensure voter education messages reach grassroots communities across the state.
Earlier at the palace of the Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty, Matthew Alhaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, the KOSIEC delegation who was received by the Council of Chiefs led by the Ohiomogbolo Attah, Chief Emmanuel Onucheyo, offered prayers and royal blessings for the successful conduct of the elections.

Also, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Doctor. Ahmed Tijani Anaje, who received the KOSIEC team, pledged the continued support of the traditional institution for the Commission’s activities.
He commended KOSIEC for engaging traditional rulers in the electoral process, describing the approach as vital to achieving credible and widely accepted elections.
