Over six thousand eight hundred students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, have graduated and been awarded National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates in various disciplines.
The outgoing Rector of the institution, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, disclosed this during the 5th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Polytechnic held in Lokoja.

Professor Usman described the convocation as a significant milestone for the institution and commended the Kogi State Government for its unwavering support, which he said was instrumental to the achievements recorded during his six-year tenure.
He appealed for further government intervention, particularly in the improvement of internal road networks, provision of official vehicles for senior staff, and the construction of additional hostels to enhance students’ welfare.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, while commending Professor Usman for his outstanding performance, noted that his appointment as Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University was a reflection of his satisfactory leadership and effective management of the Polytechnic over the past six years.

Represented by his deputy, Elder Salifu Oyibo, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s strong belief in education as the surest pathway to personal development and sustainable growth.
He congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their academic programmes and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution.

The highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Polytechnic’s Fellowship Award on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo; the first democratically elected governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu; and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Maikarfi IV.

Others included the Accountant General of Kogi State, Hajiya Habibat Oyiza Tijani; a former Rector of the Polytechnic, late Professor Mathew Idowu Ajibeto; and a former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ikani Ovheni.
