One thousand, seven hundred people have benefited from Plateau Resilience Initiative, PRIn, project which was implemented in some communities of Barkin Ladi and Bassa Local Government Areas.
Representative of partners of the project, Mr. BARTHOLOMEW DANLADI disclosed this at the close out event of the project held in Jos, under the theme ‘’Enhancing Climate Resilient livelihoods for Vulnerable Communities in Plateau State’’.
The Plateau Resilience Initiative, PRIn project which was supported by Christian aid Nigeria, aimed at enhancing the capacity of vulnerable groups affected by conflicts in Barkin Ladi and Bassa Local Government areas of the state.
The project also focused at strengthening social cohesion and adaptation mitigation strategies of the impact of climate change in crises affected communities of the two local government areas.

In a presentation on the overview of the project, Mr. BARTHOLOMEW DANLADI said vulnerable targets groups were carefully selected and over one thousand people including women, youths and people with disability were empowered.
He said its achievements included installation of solar power in fourteen localities and livelihood diversification among others.
Mr. DANLADI explained that the Plateau Consortium that implemented the project were JDPC, Christian Council of Nigeria as well as Women and Children in Support of Community Development Initiative.
A beneficiary of the project, Sandra Peter from Bassa Local Government Area said she learnt pastry and now supplies doughnuts to shops.
Another beneficiary from Barkin Ladi, Mrs. Rhoda John explained she has been able to use the knowledge acquired to produce charcoal, slippers aa well as produced chairs and table from recycled leather waste and tyres.
In a remark, representative of christian aid, Mr. OBELE IHEAKANDU stressed the need to build a peaceful cohesive society and promised that the organisation would continue to impact more communities.
Earlier, Coordinator of Social Justice and Human Development for Peace Initiative, JDPC, BENEDICTA DABER thanked sponsor of the project for the support and commended the beneficiaries as well as traditional rulers for their commitment towards ensuring success of the projects.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Gwom Rwei Heipang, Da PAUL TADI, District Head of Kwall, Plateau State Director of NOA, Mrs. KANENG PAM-HORO and representatives of Civil Society organisations.
High points at the event featured Panel of discussants on sustaining resilience in Plateau State: Lessons and Way Forward, display of products by beneficiaries of the livelihood skills while the Irigwe Dance Troupe added colour to the event.
