The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has deployed more than 450 officers and operational logistics across the state to ensure smooth traffic flow before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The disclosure was made in a statement signed by PRTO Olawuyi Gani Olalekan, Head of Media and Public Relations for the authority.
According to the statement, KWARTMA’s General Manager, Abdullahi Suleiman Oba, said the deployment, which will run from 17 to 22 March, is strategically focused on traffic-prone areas and key locations within the state capital to minimise congestion and ensure public safety.
Mr Suleiman Oba explained that the deployment comprises 350 personnel assigned to traffic management and control, 30 officers for surveillance duties, and 50 personnel for highway patrol and monitoring along major corridors such as Offa, Ajase, Okoolowo, and Bode Saadu.
He said 10 members have been designated as a rescue team to promptly evacuate broken-down vehicles, while another 10 personnel will handle feedback and traffic reporting at various locations. which will be supported by 6 patrol vehicles, 10 motorbikes and heavy-duty tow trucks.
The Head of the Traffic Agency urged all motorists and road users to cooperate with KWARTMA and other relevant agencies to ensure seamless traffic movement during the festive period.
The KWARTMA boss advised road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to guarantee their safety.
