The Kogi State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government to accelerate road infrastructure development and enhance connectivity across the state.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Abdulsalami Ozigi Deedat, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Abuja.
He said the engagement forms part of ongoing policy efforts to deepen institutional synergy between the Kogi State Ministry of Works and the Federal Ministry of Works.
The commissioner commended the federal government’s infrastructure drive under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that sustained investments in road development are already yielding measurable improvements nationwide.
He emphasized that enhanced cooperation between both tiers of government remains critical to delivering durable and efficient road networks.
As part of its infrastructure priorities, the commissioner called for urgent federal intervention on key road corridors within the state, including the Lokoja–Okene, Ajaokuta, Itobe, and Mopa–Isanlu roads.
According to him, these routes were identified as strategic to easing transportation challenges, reducing congestion, and boosting economic activities, given the state’s central position as a national transit hub.
Mr Ozigi Deedat further acknowledged ongoing federal efforts in road construction and rehabilitation, urging sustained momentum to improve mobility and support socio-economic development.
In response, the Minister of Works, David Umahi reaffirmed its commitment to supporting infrastructure development in Kogi State, recognizing its strategic importance within the national road network.
He said the engagement underscores a shared policy direction between the state and the federal government aimed at fostering integrated infrastructure development and improving the overall quality of life for citizens.
