Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for initiating the process of restoring additional state constituencies in Kogi State.
The Governor stated this at INEC stakeholder’s meeting on constituency restoration held in Lokoja.

He described the move as a bold step toward deepening democracy and correcting historical imbalances in representation.
Governor Ododo noted that the restoration of the affected constituencies is both a moral and constitutional obligation, stressing that fair representation remains the cornerstone of any democratic system.
He asserted that communities previously denied adequate representation would now have their voices better reflected in the legislative process.
The Governor assured INEC of the Kogi State Government’s full support to ensure a smooth and credible restoration exercise and also urged stakeholders and residents of the affected areas to cooperate fully with the Commission.
In his remarks, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi State, Shehu Abdulwahab, said the meeting was convened to gather stakeholders’ input for the delineation and restoration process.

He explained that the exercise would involve fieldwork, data verification, and consultations to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Stakeholders at the meeting, including representatives of security agencies, traditional institutions, political parties, and civil society groups, pledged their support for the exercise.
The restoration of the constituencies follows judicial pronouncements and is expected to enhance political inclusion and grassroots representation in the state.
