Operatives of the Kabba Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force have paraded two suspects, Chris Amos and Bilat Joseph, for allegedly transporting 339 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in a Honda Pilot Jeep.
Parading the suspects in Lokoja, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the state.

The Commissioner explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly picked up the consignment in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on the instruction of a man identified simply as Alhaji, whose full identity and whereabouts are still unknown.
He said the consignment was reportedly meant to be delivered in Yola, Adamawa State.
According to him, investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network and ensure the diligent prosecution of all those connected with the crime.
CP Kankarofi noted that illicit drug trafficking remains one of the major factors fueling violent crimes and criminality in society, stressing that the Command would continue aggressive operations aimed at preventing the movement of illicit substances through state.
He assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive policing, intelligence gathering, and sustained collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public.
The Police Commissioner also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his continuous support and strategic leadership, as well as the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support toward security operations in the state.
He added that upon completion of investigations, the suspects and the seized consignment would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.
