Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has opened bids for the execution of the 2025 Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) intervention projects, with 211 contractors submitting proposals for various educational infrastructure and learning enhancement projects across the state.
The bids cover 12 project categories, including classroom construction and renovation, provision of toilets, safe school initiatives, furniture, solar-powered boreholes, textbooks, sports equipment, and digital learning facilities.
Speaking at the bid opening ceremony in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the exercise reflects his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in public procurement.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the Governor said the projects would strengthen basic education delivery and improve learning outcomes across the 16 local government areas of the state.
He added that the government remains committed to ensuring that every child in Kwara State has access to a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment.
Chairman of SUBEB, Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, commended the Governor for the regular payment of UBEC counterpart funds and sustained investments in educational infrastructure, teacher development, instructional materials, and digital learning initiatives.
Professor Adaramaja noted that intervention projects executed under previous funding cycles had significantly improved school infrastructure and enhanced teaching and learning in public basic schools across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Alhaji Maruf Ahmed assured the government of strict adherence to project specifications and appealed for continued patronage of indigenous contractors.
