Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reassured residents of the state’s commitment to their safety with the acquisition of additional armoured vehicles and sophisticated weapons to strengthen security operations against bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

Governor Ododo gave the assurance in Lokoja while inspecting newly delivered Buffalo armoured vehicles alongside others repaired after sustaining damage during security operations.

He said the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of his administration, stressing that security agencies must be adequately equipped to effectively combat crime across the state.
The governor disclosed that the state government had procured 50 Buffalo armoured vehicles, with more units recently delivered, while damaged vehicles had been restored by indigenous engineers.
He also revealed that, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Department of State Services, about 30 General Purpose Machine Guns had been acquired to further strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies.
Governor Ododo reiterated that his administration would neither negotiate with criminals nor succumb to their threats, assuring residents that sustained security operations would continue until criminal elements were completely driven out of Kogi State.
He commended the local engineers for successfully restoring the damaged armoured vehicles and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the state’s efforts to improve security.
