German authorities have charged a young Syrian national, identified as Mohamed A., with aiding a foreign terror group in connection with a thwarted attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna last August.
Described as a juvenile and currently at large, Mohamed A is alleged to have supported the ideology of the Islamic State (IS) and assisted another suspect in preparing the attack.
The planned strike led to the abrupt cancellation of Swift’s three sold-out Eras Tour shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, leaving thousands of fans disappointed.
Multiple suspects were arrested at the time, with investigators linking their motives to IS and al-Qaeda inspiration.
The renewed security concerns have since led to the cancellation of three upcoming Swift concerts in Vienna, originally scheduled for August 2024.
