Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has flagged off the construction of the 12.5-kilometer Unosi–Odonto–Ogiri road in Ogiri community, Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ododo said the project, executed in partnership with the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), will boost connectivity to other towns and markets, spurring economic growth and prosperity.
He noted that opening rural roads remains a core priority of his administration, revealing that construction works are ongoing on 125 kilometers of rural roads in Kogi East, 105 kilometers in Kogi Central, and 124 kilometers in Kogi West.
The Governor urged residents to take ownership of the project to ensure its sustainability.
Member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Sani Egidi, commended the governor for initiating the road project and for locating the Free Trade Zone in Ajaokuta, describing it as a unique development in the North Central region.
The National Coordinator of RAAMP, Aminu Bodinga Mohammed, stressed that the road will provide uninterrupted access to markets, healthcare facilities, and agricultural product outlets.
He appreciated the support of the project’s development partners,World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Federal Project Monitoring Unit.
