The Kogi State Government has commenced the distribution of 5,000 Health Data Tools to public and private hospitals across the state in a bid to strengthen health record-keeping and service delivery.
Speaking at the official launch, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Doctor. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, described the initiative as a strategic step towards addressing key challenges in the health sector.
He explained that the data tools, which are standardized national documents, would enhance accurate documentation of health services and improve the state’s reporting rate to the national health platform.
According to him, the Ministry of Health took the initiative to produce the templates locally as part of efforts to ensure every health institution in the state systematically collects and utilizes reliable health data.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting innovations that would reposition the health sector, noting that the initiative marked a pioneering effort in data-driven healthcare management in the state.
The State Director of Health Research, Statistics, and Documentation, Mr. Johnson Ayedogbon, appreciated the state government for its strides in healthcare reforms.
He urged all health facilities to strictly adhere to the use of the tools, stressing that updated health records would form part of the requirements for license renewal of private health practitioners.
