The Defence Headquarters has rebranded Operation Safe Haven to Operation Enduring Peace, marking a strategic shift towards sustainable security and stability in Plateau State and its environs.
The rebranding reflects a renewed commitment to bridging operational gaps and fostering lasting peace in the region, ensuring stability is long-lasting.
A statement by the Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, says the new operation will focus on inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-driven strategies, and community engagement to tackle security challenges comprehensively.
It further notes that the operation’s key initiatives include personnel reinforcement, logistics upgrades, and improved troop welfare for enhanced effectiveness.
Addressing troops in Jos, Plateau State, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, praised the personnel for their sacrifices and confirmed that the Armed Forces are receiving the necessary support from the Presidency to carry out their operations effectively.

General Musa urged troops to intensify their efforts to complete outstanding tasks, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to secure lasting peace, not just win battles.
“The cycle of destruction and displacement must stop. Between now and December, we must decisively combat the menace threatening our communities,” he stated, assuring that troops’ dedication and hard work will be duly recognized and rewarded.
The Chief of Defence Staff emphasized that transforming conflict-prone areas into peaceful and prosperous communities requires collaboration with all stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional institutions, and religious authorities.
General Musa affirmed that the Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to protecting lives and property, adapting to emerging threats to maintain peace and stability.
In his address, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General EF Oyinlola, noted that Operation Safe Haven has effectively tackled security issues in Plateau State, serving as a vital force for stability.
He noted that the change ushers in a proactive approach, focusing on anticipating and preempting threats.
