
The Nasarawa State Government has commended its athletes for their outstanding performance at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, gave the commendation while addressing athletes, coaches, and staff at Dennis Osadebey University, where they are camped for the games.
Dr. Alhassan described the athletes’ outing as impressive and congratulated them for lifting the state’s name high.
The government official assured the athletes of continuous support to enable them to sustain their momentum throughout the games.
Leader of the delegation and Director of Sports in the Ministry, Mallam Ubah Musa, appreciated the government and Permanent Secretary for the visit, urging athletes to remain focused and win more medals.
An athlete who participated in Judo, Favour Simon, thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, for their unwavering commitment and support.
The athletes have so far won a total of eight medals: two gold and six bronze.
