In a swift and accurate move to strengthen grassroots participation in the Electoral Process, Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism is to develop synergy with the Forum of National Youth Presidents, Ethnic Nationalities in the State, to sensitize people on the need to ensure that eligible persons register in the ongoing INEC’s continuous Voter Registration and Revalidation.
Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Doctor Ibrahim Tanko, stated this when he hosted the President of the Forum, Comrade Silas Dauda Yileni, and his Members in Lafia during their courtesy visit.
The Forum of National Youth Presidents of Ethnic Nationalities is a Youth Forum that comprises all the Tribes in Nasarawa State, representing their people in aligning themselves with Traditional institutions of Ethnic groups in promoting culture and fostering peaceful coexistence among them to enhance the development of the State.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, said he was overwhelmed by the visit by the Forum of National Youth Presidents, Ethnic Nationalities in the state, enjoined them to create awareness across various localities to ensure that people participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration.
Doctor Tanko informed them that the Department of Culture is working toward organising the Nasarawa State Cultural Festival before the end of the year to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage, charging them to always embrace peace.
He assured the Forum that the present administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule will continue to sustain its developmental strides across the state.
Earlier, President, Forum of National Youth Presidents, Ethnic Nationalities in the State, Comrade Silas Dauda Yileni said their visit is to formally familiarize with the Ministry and discuss the way forward for the Youth population that is crucial to the progress of the state.
Comrade Yileni commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his infrastructural development that has a direct bearing on the lives of the citizens, assuring their host of total support to the Ministry and the state Government generally.
The Forum consists of 25 ethnic nationalities with the sole aim of uniting various tribes for the growth and development of Nasarawa State.
