Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has graduated a total of 5,051 students, including postgraduate students, who were awarded degrees across various fields of study during the institution’s 9th Convocation Ceremony held at the University’s permanent site in Felele.
Vice-Chancellor, FUL, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, who stated this during the convocation ceremony, congratulated the graduating students for their perseverance and dedication throughout their academic journey.
He noted that despite challenges of limited funding, the university has recorded significant infrastructural progress, with 34 major projects either completed or ongoing.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Zubairu Tajo Abdallah, commended the graduands for their achievements and encouraged them to be good ambassadors of the institution.
He called on the Federal Government to urgently construct a pedestrian bridge across the expressway in front of the Felele campus, noting that the bridge would help prevent accidents caused by the heavy flow of trailers, trucks, and other vehicles that pose safety risks to students, staff, and road users.
The convocation also featured the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on some distinguished Nigerians who have made outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and national development.
Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Senator Tunde Ogbeha expressed deep appreciation to the university for the recognition, describing the honour as both a privilege and a renewed call to greater service to humanity.
