Plateau state Government has procured tons of certified potato seeds to improve its production in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. SAMSON BUGAMA stated in Jos at the World Food Day celebration organized by the ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries.
The event brought together stakeholders in agriculture sector.

The World Food Day 2025 was organized by the Plateau State Ministry of Agriculture to strengthen collaboration for sustainable food and nutrition security.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources explained that the certified potato seeds would strengthen potato value chain in the state.
Mr. BUGAMA also enumerated on other achievements of the ministry to include provision of access roads and improvement in markets has helped reduce post-harvest losses.
He noted that nine thousand people in the state also benefited from food assistance from the FADAMA programme.

The Commissioner said the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP, in the state had a set-back due to lack of counterpart funding.BUGAMA appreciated Governor CALEB MUTFWANG for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transforming the agriculture sector in the state.
In a key note address titled Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future: A Strategic Roadmap for Transforming Plateau State’s Food System, The Director, TETFund, Center For Excellence in Food Security, University of Jos, Professor Dauda Bawa emphasized the need to advance research, innovation, and partnerships that drive resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems in the state.
High point at the event included cultural display and mini farm produce exhibition from the seventeen local government areas of the state.
