Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has commissioned 80 revitalised Primary Health Care (PHC) centres spread across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the ceremony in Lokoja, Governor Ododo described the initiative as a monumental milestone in the state’s healthcare development.


He said the revitalisation project would significantly enhance access to quality healthcare services, especially in rural communities.
The Governor urged residents to take ownership of the facilities and protect them from vandalism to ensure their sustainability.

He also announced plans to introduce a monitoring mechanism to track service delivery and drug distribution across all PHC centres in the state.
Governor Ododo at the event also presented cash rewards to outstanding healthcare personnel in recognition of their dedication and contributions to primary healthcare delivery.


He also handed over medical equipment and commodities donated by the Federal Ministry of Health and development partners before commissioning the newly revitalised prototype PHC at the Old Market area of Lokoja.
Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, commended Governor Ododo for his visionary leadership and commitment to strengthening the healthcare system despite limited resources.
He praised the expansion of the state’s health insurance scheme and the dedication of health workers in the State, urging the governor to sustain his reforms as a model for service excellence.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Omeiza, expressed gratitude to the governor for his continuous support to the health sector noting that the interventions would go a long way in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates across the state.
