Nasarawa State Government has entered into a partnership with Silvex International to boost Agricultural production and enhance food Security in the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this at the commencement of the harvest on its 3,300 hectares of Jangwa rice farm in Awe Local Government Area of the state.
At the commencement of the harvest of the rice in Jangwa, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that the initiative was part of his administration’s commitment towards ensuring food sufficiency, job creation, and revenue generation.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after participating in the rice harvesting using a combined harvester, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that his administration embarked on massive rice production to ensure food availability in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
While noting that his administration has entered into a partnership with Silvex International in the state’s Agricultural sector, Governor Abdullahi noted that his administration is expanding the rice farm to about eight thousand hectares to promote agriculture and improve yield
Commending the core partner for the worthy collaboration, Governor Sule, however, acknowledged the commitment of his Special Adviser on Special Duties on Agriculture and his team for their unrelenting efforts that saw to the success recorded at the rice farm
The chief operations officer of Silvex International, Abubakar Garba Ibrahim, who is the core partner in Jangwa rice farm, said the rice will be branded and bagged as Nasaco rice, reiterated the commitment of his company to a fruitful partnership to boost Agricultural production in Nasarawa state.
On their parts, Commissioner for Agriculture Umar Tanko Tunga and the Special Adviser on Special Duties on Agriculture to Governor Abdullahi Sule Mohammed Iyimoga Ohigye acknowledged the commitment of the state Governor to the Agriculture sector, noting that the state would soon be a food basket of the Nation.
Before retiring for the day, Governor Abdullahi Sule had a brief meeting with residents of the area, where he urged them to take ownership of the farm and give necessary support to the management of the farm during the harvest season and beyond.
