The Kogi State Government has kicked off the procurement process for the development of a modern Livestock Service Center (LSC) in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area, signaling a major push to strengthen and transform the state’s livestock sector.
The LSC project forms a crucial part of the Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (Kogi L-PRES) Programme, supported by the World Bank to boost productivity, enhance value chains, and improve livelihoods across the livestock industry.
At the bid-opening ceremony in Lokoja, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES, Mr. Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza Otaru, described the event as an important milestone in the state’s efforts to reposition the livestock sector.
He emphasized that the bidding process would be transparent, competitive, and fully compliant with World Bank procurement standards.
Mr. Otaru also expressed appreciation to Governor Usman Ododo for his strong commitment and vision in driving the transformation of the livestock sector into a modern, resilient, and economically viable agribusiness.
The commissioner for Livestock Development, Doctor. Olufemi Bolarin, represented by Mr Peter Ali said the bid opening reflects the government’s determination to expand livestock infrastructure and enhance service delivery for farmers.
Director of Procurement at the State Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Siyaka Amoka, asserted that the process would produce the most qualified firms, and that the project would be executed to top standards within the approved timeframe.
