The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency PEPSA has ordered the immediate suspension of operations at the Filin-Ball and Gadan Ganda abattoirs due to significant public health risks associated with the unhygienic conditions.
The Director-General of PEPSA Mr. Samuel Dapiya gave the directive during an inspection tour following a decisive action taken against unhygienic abattoir practices in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
According to a statement, The inspection revealed that the abattoirs lacked basic infrastructure, including water facilities , proper waste disposal systems, and adequate ventilation.

PEPSA through the statement hinted that it has scheduled a meeting with the leadership of the abattoir to discuss measures to address the issue, including arrangements for the relocation of the abattior to the Jos main Abattoir.

The agency assured of its committment to protecting the health and well-being of the people of Plateau State and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that all abattoirs comply with the required standards.
The agency urges the public to support its efforts in ensuring that meat sold in the state is safe for consumption.
