The Plateau State House of Assembly has demanded a thorough investigation and prosecution of those responsible for killing over 30 indigenes from Ganawuri, Riyom Local Government Area, in Woro, Kwara State last month.
This followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by member representing Riyom State Constituency Dachung Dadong.
Early last month, the news of the killings of over 200 people by terrorist in Woro Kwara state devasted the nation amidst growing insecurity .
Out of the hundreds , more than 30 of the victims were indigenes of Plateau State from Ganawuri in Riyom local government area.
Aside the loss of lives thousands were displaced and lost properties due to the incidents.
Member representing Riyom State Constituency Dachung Dadong while raising the issue at Plenary prayed that the legislators condemn the act as well as mandate National and State Emergency management Agencies to provide necessary assistance to the people.
Also supporting the motion was member representing Langtang North North Abel Nimchak stressed the need for the Kwara state Government to extend its condolence to the people of the state following the incident.
Speaker of the assembly Naanlong Daniel assured that the welfare and safety of Plateau indigene remains the priority of the assembly and pledged that the Legislators will do their best to protect the rights of citizens.
Also at Plenary the assembly considered and adopted 2nd and third readings on different bills such as the Plateau State House of Assembly powers and privileges laws and Assembly Commission law aimed at enhancing functions of the legislators presented by member representing Quaanpan South Theodore Maiyaki and Jos North North Adams Aliyu.
