The National Pension Commission has introduced a matching contribution incentive tagged save small today to gain big tomorrow for women in the informal sector to commemorate International Women’s Day in plateau state.

The pension payment plan initiative aims to enlighten women on the importance of pension plans and assures that any woman who registers for a pension plan within the week and contributes between one thousand and twenty thousand naira will have her contribution matched with the same amount as part of activities marking International Women’s Day in the state.
The Director-General of the National Pension Commission, Omolola Oloworaran, represented by the Head of the National Data Bank Management Department, Ayodele Olayemi, noted that Nigeria’s traditional pension system mainly covers people in the formal sector.
She said the campaign was designed to encourage hardworking Nigerians, particularly women in the informal sector, to enroll in the micro pension scheme so they can enjoy financial security in the future.
The Director-General urged women to embrace the various pension plans available and assured that the commission regulates investments to ensure that contributors’ funds are safely and properly managed.
The Permanent Secretary, Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Rebecca Shaset, commended the initiative and encouraged business women in the state to take advantage of the opportunity to secure their future and retirement.
The Vice Chairperson of Market traders association of Nigeria Plateau state chapter Hadiza Minna, and a businesswoman, Fatima Pwajok, who expressed willingness to enroll in the pension scheme, said the initiative would provide financial security for women in their old age.
The highlight of the event was the registration of pension payment plan accounts by influencers and market leaders.
