The Plateau State Advisory Council on Interreligious Harmony has described the violence unleashed on innocent citizens at Gari Ya Waye of Angwan Rukuba community of the state as an act of terrorism and an attempt to pitch both Christians and Muslims against one another.
In a statement, Co-Chairmen of the Council, Reverend Pandang Yamsat and the Emir of Wase, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo-Haruna the second notes that the barbaric act is unacceptable and goes against the doctrines of Christianity and Islam.

The statement calls on the Federal Government to treat all those unleashing mayhem on innocent citizens across the country as enemies and terrorists due to the act which undermines the sovereignty and sanctity of human lives hence should not be allowed to further drag the name of the country into disrepute.
It also commends Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his swift response to halt the further spread of violence and calls on security agents to ensure that perpetrators of such act are fish out and brought to book in accordance with the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The statement urges citizens to do all within their powers to resist attempt to destroy the common patrimony regardless of the level of provocation.
Council also prays for speedy recovery for those who sustained various degrees of injuries and for the peaceful repose of those who died in the unfortunate attack.
It further stresses the need for youths and other clerics who use the social media to spread inciting messages as well as amongst citizens to desist forthwith and calls on security agencies to check this disturbing trend.
The council assures that it will continue to sensitize members to preach, teach and practice the tenets of various religious beliefs in a way that will promote understanding, peace and harmony for the benefit of humanity.
The Plateau State Advisory Council on Interreligious Harmony is a body comprising of religious leaders and Heads of various religious denominations as well as other imminent opinion leaders constituted by the Plateau State government to help provide a moral compass for the government and citizens of Plateau State.
