Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) to drive economic transformation and regional development.
Governor Ododo gave the assurance while receiving the leadership of the Commission, led by its Chairman, Cosmas Akighir, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Lokoja.








He described the visit as timely, noting that Kogi State’s strategic location and abundant natural resources position it as a hub for investment and economic growth.
The governor stressed the importance of reviving the Ajaokuta Steel Company, describing it as a critical national asset capable of transforming Nigeria’s industrial sector.
He called for stronger collaboration with the Federal Government to make the steel plant fully operational.
Governor Ododo also highlighted the economic potential of the Rivers Niger and Benue, stating that effective dredging and utilization of the waterways would improve transportation, boost agricultural activities, and enhance trade across the region.
Earlier, the NCDC Chairman, Cosmas Akighir, who said the visit was part of a tour of North Central states aimed at fostering partnerships to unlock the region’s economic potential,
described the state as a vital link between northern and southern Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Commission, Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, noted that the Commission, established by President Bola Tinubu, is focused on promoting inclusive growth across key sectors.
He emphasized that collaboration with state governments remains essential to achieving its mandate.
The visit featured presentations by members of the Kogi State Executive Council on development priorities, with both parties expressing commitment to sustained cooperation for the advancement of the North Central region.
