The Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, has urged ministry workers to engage in regular exercise to enhance their physical and mental well-being while performing their duties in various offices.
The Minister gave the charge while officially declaring the opening of the Fifth Edition of the Federal Education Sector Games, FEDUGAM, opened in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.
At the event, Dr. Alausa emphasized that the Federal University of Lafia was represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Shehu Abdulrahman. He highlighted that the Federal Education Games and Athletics Meet (FEDUGAM) serves as a platform to promote unity among the agencies participating under the Federal Ministry of Education through sporting activities, adding that these games will contribute significantly to the health of staff, leading to enhanced productivity.
Earlier, chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Dr. Saeed Yusuf, mentioned that the Sector Games aim to improve the mental alertness and physical fitness of the workforce by encouraging regular exercise and expressed gratitude to the Nasarawa State Government for its support in hosting the Games.
Correspondent reports that twenty-two agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education will be competing in thirteen sporting events, including football, scrabble, chess, basketball, athletics, and table tennis, among others.
