One thousand five hundred improved Teneral Oil Palm seedlings under the Alia Palm project have been presented to journalists in Benue State.
Governor Hyacinth Alia who made the presentation at the NUJ House, Makurdi during the Union’s state Council Congress urged them to nature the seedlings to grow for the economic benefits of their families.
He reiterated the state Government readiness to renovate the NUJ Secretariat complex which has become dilapidated after thirty years and donated an eighteen seater bus to the union to enhance their operations.
Governor Alia said the weigh-in allowance for staff of The Voice Newspaper and State Information would be looked into after the confirmation and inauguration of a new commissioner for Information.

The Governor said his administration is open to constructive criticism and enjoined members of the NUJ to report positively on new roads construction, renovation of classrooms blocks, empowerment of farmers and the revival of some moribund industries in the state.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Agweye Agbenu acknowledged the support of the Government in diversifying the economy in the area of agriculture to boost food security.
Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber had earlier requested for the renovation of the NUJ House, a bus and approval of weigh-in allowance for State media workers that were not captured.
Comrade Ugber appreciated the Governor for the donation of the palm oil seedlings and assured that his colleagues would continue to project the developmental programmes and policies of his administration to the world.
