Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission NASIEC has been charged to bring new reforms and innovations that will correct abnormalities and ensure free, fair, and credible future elections.
Governor Abdullahi Sule gave the charge while receiving the report of the 2024 local Government election in the state, held at the Government house, lafia, the state capital.
Congratulating the state independent electoral Commission NASIEC, for the successful completion of the November second local Government election across the state, Governor Abdullahi Sule described the election as one of the successful devoid of much acrimony calling on the state electoral body to put in more efforts to bringing more reforms, innovations and ideas that will correct abnormalities in the future elections.
Governor Sule also used the avenue to clear misconceptions on a video making rounds that local Government staff are not being paid full salary, noting that since inception, his administration had continued to pay local Government workers their full salaries.
The state Governor, however, directed the Commissioner Ministry for Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aminu Muazu Maifata, to investigate the matter to the logical conclusion to bring those behind the act to face the full wrath of the law.
Presenting the report of the 2024 local Government election to Governor Andi Sule, Chairman State Independent Electoral Commission, Usman Ayuba Wandai, explained that the success recorded at the 2024 local Government election was as a result of key innovations introduced during the exercise.
Ayuba Wandai, however, commended the state Governor for the support and the release of necessary logistics that saw the success and the smooth conduct of the election at the third tiers of Government.
