The Plateau State Contributory Health Management Agency, PLASCHEMA says it will enroll eight thousand five vulnerable people under local Government Equity Health plan across Seventeen Local Government Areas.
The Acting Director General of the PLASCHEMA, Dr Kwande Dawal stated this during an inspection of the enrollment exercise at various Local Government Areas in the state.
Dr. Dawal noted that the government has invested significant funds, enabling the enrollment of over 9,000 civil servants, both serving and retired, who are now accessing healthcare services.
He added that approximately 9,900 local government employees are also currently accessing healthcare services through the same scheme.
Dr. Dawal stated that the second phase of the exercise involves enrolling 500 vulnerable individuals from the 17 Local Government Areas under the Local Government Equity Health Plan, which will significantly alleviate the plight of people in accessing affordable healthcare services.
The beneficiaries include pregnant women, internally displaced persons (IDPs), people living with disabilities, children under five years old, and elderly individuals, among others.
The PLASCHEMA DG expressed satisfaction with the enrollment turnout, stressing that by the end of September this year, beneficiaries will start accessing healthcare services.
The Chairman of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, Mr. Stephen Pwajok, commended the government for providing access to affordable healthcare, emphasizing that the local government will offer the agency necessary support to enhance healthcare services for the people.
