The Kogi State Police Command has presented cheques worth over N52 million to the families of officers who died in active service, under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Scheme.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, the gesture reflects the IGP’s commitment to supporting the welfare of families of personnel who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), DCP Baba Mallam Alhaji, handed over cheques to 27 beneficiaries during a brief ceremony held in Lokoja.
In his remarks, DCP Baba emphasized that the initiative highlights the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired officers, as well as the families of fallen heroes.
He urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds to sustain their households and secure the future of their children, assuring that the sacrifices of their loved ones would never be forgotten.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Police leadership, noting that the financial support would go a long way in cushioning the impact of their loss.
