As part of an effort towards transitioning from fossil fuel to clean energy, the Nasarawa State Government has commenced the distribution of electric vehicles to institutions, civil servants, vulnerable groups, and other citizens of the state.
During the symbolic presentation of keys of the vehicles at the Government House, Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing support to citizens across the country.
The distribution included fifty electric cars, fifty electric tricycles, and various vehicles for third-class traditional rulers, as well as motorcycles for other citizens, vulnerable groups, and civil servants.
Governor Abdullahi Sule highlighted that distributing electric vehicles and tricycles aligns with his administration’s efforts to shift from fossil fuels to clean energy and address the impact of removing the fuel subsidy.
He mentioned that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s drive to transition towards renewable energy.
Governor Sule noted that the state government has completed plans to build charging stations for tricycles in the Lafia, Akwanga, and Keffi local government areas, making it easier for owners to charge their vehicles and boost their businesses.
In a goodwill message, the Emir of Lafia, Sidi Mohammed Bage, expressed gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his numerous interventions aimed at improving the well-being of the people of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, State Commissioner for Environment, Princess Margaret Elayo, described the distribution of electric cars to institutions, youths, and various groups as a testament to Governor Abdullahi Sule’s unwavering commitment to empowering the citizens of the state.
The event was climaxed with the presentation of keys to the vehicles and the tricycles to the beneficiaries.
