In Nasarawa State, over sixty victims of floods and other natural disasters have received support through the third phase of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s cash relief program, amounting to twenty million naira.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, Mrs. Hauwa Samuel Jugbo, revealed this to journalists shortly after the disbursement in Lafia.
Following recurrent cases of flooding and other natural disasters in several communities across Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule has continued to roll out relief programmes aimed at cushioning the effects on affected residents.
During the third phase of cash disbursement for flood and disaster victims in Lafia, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, Mrs. Hauwa Samuel Jugbo, stated that the initiative is part of the government’s continuous efforts to support victims of recent floods and other calamities.
According to her, beneficiaries received amounts ranging from one hundred thousand to three hundred and fifty thousand naira each, based on the extent of the damage they experienced, to support their recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Mrs. Hauwa commended Governor Sule’s leadership and humanitarian gesture, noting that the relief package has brought hope to many families across the state. She also urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to improve their livelihoods.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Emmanuel Yonah, said the cash support forms part of the state government’s broader plan to tackle the effects of floods and other disasters by providing both immediate assistance and long-term interventions.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Bilhatu Amoi, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed appreciation to Governor Sule and the Commissioner for Women Affairs for their timely support during their difficult times.
The beneficiaries pledged to make judicious use of the funds to rebuild their lives.
