Plateau State Judiciary has been commended for upholding the principles of justice and fairness, thereby sustaining public trust and confidence .
The commendation was given by Governor Caleb Mutfwang during an event to mark the 2025/2026 Legal Year Ceremony of the High Court of Justice held at the New High Court Complex in Jos.
The Legal Year Ceremony of the High Court of Justice is an annual event aimed at marking the conclusion of one Judicial year and commencement of another.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mutfwang extolled the judicial arm for not involving itself in issues that would have tarnished the integrity of the profession.
He appealed to the arm to be guided by the ethics of the profession which are free, fair and just.
Mutfwang pledged to always cater for the welfare of Judicial officers by ensuring that all outstanding entitlements were paid and called on all residents to renew their commitment to the development of the State, especially as regards the security situation.

The Governor who called for synergy between the bar and bench, announced Government’s plans to recruit over one thousand youths in the operation Rainbow in addition to the creation of State Police to beef up security intelligence gathering.
Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the State, Philemon Daffi, noted that the occasion would afford the Judicial officers an opportunity to review and improve on their work.
He stressed that in the year under review a lot was achieved in terms of criminal justice, civil litigation and other corporate cases, including recovery of illegally acquired properties.
Daffi, gave an overall assessment of the Ministry’s performance for the year, including training and retraining of Judicial officers in addition to highlighting the proposed multi-billion naira Judicial office complex that will host all components of the arm of government.
Chief Judge of the State, Justice David Mann appreciated God for his guidance and protection throughout the past Judicial year and prayed for continued sustenance in the coming year.
Justice Mann described the legal year as a cherished occasion that gives judges the opportunity to reflect on the legal mandate of serving as the last hope of the Masses.
He commended the Governor for his efforts towards overhauling the Judicial complex to meet standards.

Earlier, in their separate goodwill messages, Chairman NBA, Jos Branch, the Inner Bar represented by Pius Okuigbu, described the legal year as a remarkable and Stressed that it was a moment of sober reflection towards seeking God’s wisdom and direction on the legal profession.

They also emphasized the need for synergy between the bench and the bar for reciprocal respect .
